Bosch Double Stack Named Top Air Fryer in German Tests, But Fries Underperform

In a new report published around October 5, 2026, independent testing firm IMTEST named the Bosch Double Stack air fryer as its top choice ("Testsieger"). The device features two stacked drawers for simultaneous cooking. However, the review noted a specific weakness: the unit struggled to achieve optimal crispiness on french fries compared to single-basket competitors. This finding is significant for bakers and cooks who prioritize versatility over single-task perfection, as the dual-drawer design allows for baking pastries in one basket while crisping proteins in another.

Cuisinart Launches "French Door" Air Fryer Toaster Oven

T3 reported on October 5, 2026, that Cuisinart is introducing a new French Door Air Fryer Toaster Oven. This model aims to replace standalone ovens, toasters, and pizza ovens with a single appliance featuring double doors for easier access to larger items like whole chickens or sheet cakes. For home bakers, this form factor suggests improved heat distribution and easier loading of delicate items, potentially reducing the need for separate pizza ovens or bulky countertop convection units.

German media outlets are actively dissecting the latest Stiftung Warentest results. Sol.de and Monsterdealz highlighted that while 22 air fryers were tested recently, more than half achieved a "good" rating, with acceptable models starting at €85. However, the focus remains on the distinction between price and performance; IMTEST emphasized that while the Bosch model wins on overall versatility and noise levels, budget-conscious buyers might find better value in single-basket models specifically optimized for crisping, a key metric for many users.

Context & numbers

• Price Drops: Discounts during Prime Big Deal Days reached up to 76% off on select kitchen appliances, with specific deals on Vitamix blenders and KitchenAid mixers noted by Food & Wine.
• Test Volume: Stiftung Warentest evaluated 22 air fryers in their most recent batch, while IMTEST reviewed 31 models in their comprehensive guide.
• Entry Price: High-quality air fryers were identified starting at approximately €85 in German markets, indicating a lower barrier to entry for competent appliances.

On the radar

• Recall Awareness: Consumers should remain vigilant regarding older Cosori air fryer models (e.g., CP158-AF), which face ongoing safety warnings due to wire crimp connector overheating risks, as detailed in recent safety master lists.
• Hybrid Appliance Trend: The launch of the Ninja Crispi microwave-air fryer indicates a growing market trend toward consolidating microwaves and air fryers, which may impact future kitchen layout designs for bakers who need quick reheating capabilities alongside crisping functions.
