CPSC Issues Urgent Warning for Kalorik MAXX Air Fryer Ovens

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has warned consumers to immediately stop using Kalorik MAXX air fryer ovens with French doors due to a risk of serious burn injury. The affected models feature spring-loaded glass doors with metal handles that can shatter or malfunction during use, creating a hazard. This recall affects a broad range of "MAXX" branded units sold in North America.

Ooni Halo Core Spiral Mixer Named a TIME Best Invention of 2026

The Ooni Halo Core Spiral Mixer received a special mention on TIME’s 2026 list of best inventions, recognizing its ability to bring professional-grade spiral mixing to home kitchens. Unlike traditional stand mixers that use planetary action, the Halo Core uses a rotating bowl and fixed spiral hook, which is engineered to develop gluten networks more efficiently without overheating the dough. This design is particularly beneficial for high-hydration doughs and delicate pastry batters where friction heat can compromise yeast activity.

Bosch Double Stack Air Fryer Tops German IMTEST Rankings

In a recent comprehensive test by the German consumer magazine IMTEST, the Bosch Double Stack air fryer secured the top spot, praised for its dual-basket design and consistent heating performance. The test evaluated 31 models, with the Bosch unit excelling in both crispiness and even cooking across different food types. This result underscores the growing consumer preference for multi-zone air fryers that allow simultaneous cooking of different items, such as baking cookies in one basket while roasting vegetables in another.

Breville Compact Toaster Oven Returns to $130 Price Point

The Breville Smart Oven Compact, a favorite among home bakers for its precise temperature control, is currently available for $130 on Amazon, a significant drop from its usual retail price. This model is particularly valued for its "Element IQ" technology, which directs heat to specific elements to optimize baking, roasting, and toasting. For bakers, this means better control over oven spring and crust development, as the unit can maintain steady temperatures crucial for Maillard browning without overheating the exterior of delicate goods.

German media outlets are actively reporting on Stiftung Warentest results, highlighting that high-quality air fryers are now available for under €100. The German news site sol.de reported that Stiftung Warentest found several "good" rated air fryers starting at €85, challenging the notion that expensive brands are necessary for safe and effective baking and frying. The tests emphasized that cheaper models can now match the performance of premium units in terms of heat distribution and safety standards, a key factor for consumers looking to upgrade their countertop baking gear.
